EMPLOYEE INTERVIEWS

Mr. K. H.

An engineer for 3 years
"itta" Officer
  • Let's ask Mr. H., who is in charge of Style Free's service, "itta". What kind of work do you usually do as a web writer?
My work includes proofreading article manuscripts received from external writers, visiting newly-opened spots and limited-time events in Tokyo, and writing articles. In addition to Tokyo, I sometimes stay in rural areas to gather material.
  • Since the topic is "travel", aside from Tokyo, there are also materials of overnight stays! I believe you have been involved in this service since your first year as a new graduate, but what was the reason for getting involved?
It all started when I interned at another travel-related curation media when I was a student.
Also, during my interview, I was impressed by the comment, "they place importance on conveying first-hand experiences'', and that made me want to work with them.
  • That means you were able to utilize the experience you gained from your time as a student into your work. I often check out itta, and the posts aligned with seasonal events are especially helpful! Is there anything that you are conscious of when doing your daily work?
Thank you for checking it out!
When I write articles, I try to be conscious of the perspective of the readers who will be reading it, and thus, I try to make the articles informative and easy to read.
Specifically, I keep in mind the balance between personal impressions and factual information so that the article does not turn into a diary full of personal impressions, or an article that is just a summary of information.
  • Certainly, a balance between factual information and personal impressions is crucial when managing this kind of media platform. How do you spend your days off? Do you often travel?
I do not travel much, but I do drive to visit hot springs and nature-rich spots in the Kanto area!
I also enjoy viewing Western-style paintings at museum exhibitions. I also like basketball, so I sometimes participate in basketball tournaments with my friends. (laughs)
  • Even the way you spend your days off seems like a wonderful time that could be applied to your articles! (laughs) This is out of the blue, but do you have any dreams for the future?
We want to become an influential media platform that appears at the top of search results when people search for words like "Tokyo sightseeing" or "Kyoto sightseeing" someday! My dream is to cover not only domestically but also overseas.
  • The number of articles about overseas travel is increasing, and I'm looking forward to seeing such big content from the company!
I would like to ask about the inner workings of the Media Business Division. What kind of employees make up the majority of the division?
I think there are many people who are flexible and open-minded. My senior colleagues and bosses are also frank, so the gap is close and they are easy to interact with!
  • Definitely, I also often work with them and there are many people who work with the same perspective! Do you have a lot of interaction outside of work?
We have a fair amount of interaction such as going out for lunch during our lunch break! On a personal basis, I sometimes watch basketball games and play online games with my senior colleagues.
Sometimes, I also have time to play basketball during our lunch break. (laughs)
  • Lastly, please give a message to job-hunting students who are reading this!
When choosing a company, there are many factors to consider such as employee benefits and prestige, but please make sure to find an environment where you can do what you want to do. If you think too much and get confused, it is important to take breaks and have fun!
  • Thank you for the wonderful message that will alleviate the stress of job-hunting students!
That is all for the interview with the Media Business Division!
